Aflac Health Insurance
It’s officially over ten years since we first met that adorable Aflac duck, the little white-feathered guy with the blue neck scarf who quacks at every prospective customer of Aflac Insurance. But Aflac Incorporated has been operating much longer than that. The company was started by three brothers in Columbus, Georgia, in 1964.
Aflac Insurance—the American Family Life Assurance Company—found its own niche in the insurance industry by writing insurance policies to protect people from short- and long-term disabilities and all kinds of illnesses. Today, more than 50 million people all over the world carry some kind of Aflac policy, and 98% of them are issued as supplemental benefits available through people’s employers.
The first product issued by the Amos brothers was a policy to protect people from financial loss during cancer. And Aflac insurance has always remained within that same genre of specialized insurance not intended to be utilized as a primary or major medical health insurance plan but as a policy to bring extra cash into the home during times of catastrophic illness and disability.
When you are sidelined by an illness that keeps you from working for a while, your medical health insurance pays for your doctor and hospital bills. But if you’re not doing the old nine-to-five, how do you manage to keep up your mortgage and car payments? Aflac kicks into effect and puts cash in your hands for those very purposes.
And you can also buy specified-event insurance. It works like this: You buy a policy to protect you in case you are hit by a stroke or some form of paralysis, or if some event leaves you comatose or in a persistent vegetative state. You can even specify coverage for open-heart surgery. And if the event happens, you’ll receive cash benefits. You will undoubtedly need the money, either to pay your household expenses or to cover the co-pays and deductibles required by your health insurance.
If you choose coverage for cancer, then your Aflac insurance will cover experimental cancer treatments not normally paid for by your health insurance. Aflac’s payouts can be used toward travel or lodging if you leave your hometown for treatment. You might need the money to cover childcare expenses or the cost of in-home help.
Hospital confinement sickness indemnity insurance pays off if you are hospitalized for illness. Did you know that more hospitalizations occur for sickness than for accidents? You will have money in your pocket for ambulance costs or anything you need to supplement what your health insurance pays.
Disability insurance plans can be designed to fit your needs. When you choose one of these supplemental plans, you can decide how many months of benefits you’ll want, how much money you’ll need each month, and how many days should pass by before the policy begins to pay. You can even use the money for a planned pregnancy.
In keeping with its dedication to supplementing your insurance, Aflac also offers policies for dental and vision insurance. You can sign up for these if your health insurance plans at work exclude those kinds of coverage.
Aflac Insurance issues a variety of life insurance policies, including both term and whole life. They also offer policies for juveniles as well as riders on other insurance. With Aflac Insurance, you are paying for peace of mind. Two-thirds of all customers state that their policy will be used to replace income from a major household money earner. One-third of customers plan to use it for a mortgage payoff. And almost half of all insured people want to make sure they leave enough money behind so that their loved ones can bury them. What are your needs?
